I wasn't ready for what happened in Slack that day.
It was the last session of our first cohort. I'd set up something small, almost as an afterthought: before we logged off, everyone would drop one message of gratitude for someone else in the group.
I expected maybe a handful of quick, polite lines (the kind of thing people write because you asked them to).
Instead, the channel just... filled up. Message after message, specific, warm, some of them proper paragraphs. People naming exact moments that had helped them, exact things someone else had said that stuck. Nobody was told to write more than a line. They just kept going.
